Kevin Cote - master of the giant saw - and a number of PAWS Crew (Powell River Parks and Wilderness Society) members spent the day clearing up the last major obstruction of the Sunshine Coast Trail on East Tin Hat Ridge at the end of June 2019. We are happy to announce the SCT is free and clear after the annual winter and spring storms. Of course nature has its own schedule.
Trees keep falling and weeds keep growing. Please let us know near what KM marker the trail could use some TLC. This one was at about KM 92.5.
It makes us far more efficient to know where to go to, rather than
heading out looking for work and hauling the heavy tools (chainsaws,
etc.) around and often finding the trail in excellent or good condition. That's a day that could have been used to make any of our many trail infrastructure enhancements.
So yes, PAWS really appreciates finding out about logs across the trail, off the ground, knee high or higher. At least higher than just lying on the ground, with an easy step over. Still, if there is a cluster of those grounders, let us know too.
We also like to find out where there are significant salal or other bushes are encroaching into the trail space. So give us a shout, either on our Facebook page, or on this blog, or email. Thank you!
